Our salary statistics for the non-state sector are based on 2,149 respondents and provide an updated overview of the salary level for researchers and knowledge workers outside the state.

NB: Due to delays in the settlement and local salary negotiations for 2024, the bargaining area Virke is not part of this version of the statistics.

An important membership benefit

The salary statistics help members assess their own salary against industry standards, which strengthens their negotiating position. It provides insight into salaries by education, position and sector, and is an important tool in local salary negotiations.

Impact of the 2024 strike

The 2024 government strike has also affected the private sector, especially in the Virke area, where negotiations were delayed. Local negotiations are currently underway in the Virke areas, with a deadline of 15 March 2025. The majority of Forskerforbundet members in the Virke areas work at universities, museums and in specialist health services.

Updated statistics will be published in May/June when the results of these negotiations are ready.

Statistics for the state sector

Updated salary figures for the statesector are not yet available, but new salary statistics are expected in May/June. In the meantime, members can use our salary calculator, which is based on Statistics Norway figures from December 2024 with an addition of 2.7% from local negotiations in the state.
